Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Is this colic? I hope not...

Our baby gets into a screaming/crying fit every night around 9:00. Nothing will console her. She will be screaming at the top of her lungs like bloody murder. I really hope this isn't colic...

  • How long does it last? A lot of babies have a fussy time at night...from all the stress from the day.

Tonight going on an hour and a half. Last night it was about 45 min - an hour.

  • Our son is having a fussy period too.  Our pediatrician said to expect it due to the stress of the day and such and that there is a study that says boys have it for longer than girls do.  Good luck.

  • I think the colic rule is if they cry for 3 hours a night/3 nights a week for 3 weeks, then it is considered colic. The only thing that would calm DD is if we walked around the house with her. As soon as we sat down, the screaming would begin again! It's rough, but it will pass! Hang in there :)
  • It is normal for babies to decompress in the evening, it is the nervous systems way of regrouping from over stimulation. My toddler still does from 4:30-6:30.
  • Thanks ladies! I am really hoping this is just her way of decompressing and not colic. It is just so tough!
  • could be your daughter's "witching hour"- hour (or so) in which they do nothing but scream, cry, cause heartache in the mom and dad.
