I will begin this post by saying, that I know they are genetic and that even though I slather myself with lotion each day I know I am not doing anything to stop/prevent them because I know that is not possible. I also know that it's a fact of pregnancy, and I knew I would get them (as i got them in highschool). What I will say, is that I am shocked by the amount I already have on my belly. After my m/c in August, I gained 10ish pounds, and through out this PG i have gained about 15 pounds. But the amount that I have is shocking to me. Anyone else shocked by the amount of stretchmarks you have?
Re: Stretchmarks...
I look like I gave birth to a pack of cougars. Sad thing is, my mom and grandma do NOT have stretch marks.
I hear ya, that is my concern too. If I looks like this already, what will it look like by the end. Ah the joys of motherhood.
and BTW, I am still continuing to use my lotion to help keep my skin moisutrized to help with the stretching....
My mom keeps telling me to get some kind of moisturizer called "mothers friend". She said she used it during her pregnancy and it helped hers "fade" because they never really go away..
i've had them from weight gain/loss all my life...more are joining the party around my belly and hips at the moment. mommy has tiger stripes...rawr!?
okay I acutally just laughed out loud at this comment and I choked on my life water. lol
The only place I got them with DS was on my arse about 24 hrs AFTER he was born. My mom didn't get them with #1, but did with #2. I don't think the lotions are going to hurt a thing, but if you really want to try to fight genetics, water is your friends. It's much more worthwhile to stay hydrated from the inside out versus just putting lotion on the top layer of skin.
With that being said, my sister went crazy with the lotion and water, only gained 20 lbs total, and has an entire stomach full of strechmarks. Her's are fading (niece is about 6 months now).
I have three diagonal stretch marks just above my left hip. I got them in week 14.
I never got them throughout puberty and don't have them any where else (yet).
I'm blaming them on my obsession with trying to sleep on my left side ...
Through puberty, growth, weight gain and genetics I have them all over my boobs, hips and on the back of my nees and arms. They all faded soooo light that you don't notice them.
I HOPE that the pregnancy ones will do the same.
I started getting them at week 4 and I SWEAR another shows up every day, and I have LOST over 10lbs!!!! It's like the belly is needing to grow, and stretch, despite the weight loss (and lotion 2X a day didn't help at all so I quit)
