This may be a stupid question, but do you typically have to pay a copay for every prenatal visit? My thought was that those visits were covered.Am I crazy for thinking that?
Depends on your insurance policy/company. I have a high deductibile plan so I don't pay copays but I have a monthly payment I have to make until I reach my deductible.
I am sure every doctor's office and insurance company does it differently, but I pay nothing until after baby's born and all my visits are included with prenatal care and delivery.
not for me atleast...no copay, but my deductible($1500....grrrrr) has to be met before the insurance will kick in their 80%. I'd call your provider, they are all alittle different!
I pay $15/visit under DH's insurance for routine visits (including OB), and $30/visit for specialists (dermatologist, for example). Considering the cost of each visit out of pocket, I consider a low co-pay pretty fair, especially since we have to do so many visits during pregnancy.
I don't have a copay, but I have awesome insurance. Definitely call your insurance company and check with your doctor's office to make sure that it's all going through okay. In the end, the system is run by humans, who can make mistakes. Our first OB appointment didn't get scheduled as an OB, so they charged us a copay.

Although I've been in 4 times now and they haven't sent me a bill for it or made me pay it in office, so maybe I don't actually have to pay the copay.. hm. Now I have to check into that..

Totally depends on insurance. At my second appt my OB told me to ask my insurance if they had me pay the copay for every visit or just the first one. Turned out it was just for the first one, I'm not paying a dime since.
