That my water is going to break and I'm going to be a sweaty stinky hot that mess that hasn't showered. I know you aren't supposed to but if this happens I'm taking a quick shower. There is no way I'm going to the hospital that gross lol. I'm a stinky hog these days.

My water broke in the middle of the night, and I took a shower beofre I went to the hospital. Don't worry you'll have time to freshen up.

My OB actually sugested to me that if my water broke I should take a quick showere before heading to L&D. She said it would make me more comfortable for what was to come

I am totally taking a shower too. A quick one cant hurt if no body parts are dangling, I wouldn't think!

can a quick shower really hurt? i'm asking, i don't know the answer but i REALLY would prefer to shower after water breaking before heading to the hospital.

Yeah if I went into labor right now, there is no way I would leave the house without showering. I'm home sick for the second day in a row and I haven't showered since yesterday morning, and I'm still in my PJs. I think I will shower before I go in anyway because I can't stand going more than 24 hours without washing my hair. It gets too greasy and gross. I'm afraid of what I'll look like after labor!

The reason that they don't want you to take a shower after you water breaks is b/c there is an increased risk for infection. There is no barrier from the vaginal opening to the baby. I don't think it's that big of deal though, I plan on taking a shower too.

Actually, my doctor said that you can't take a bath because of the infection risk. He encouraged showers after the water breaks though. Those are alright.

I will definitely be taking a quick shower before I head to the hospital.

My biggest fear -- is having a BM while pushing, as long as I can push. I know I won't care by the time I go into labor and it's natural and all that stuff, but it's on my mind now. I didn't with DD so I am hoping I am lucky enough not to again.

At my birthing class the other night the lady said not to take a tub bath but to go ahead and shower. She almost said it like a request, like please shower.

I took a shower after my water broke before heading to the hospital! I had been feeling really crappy all day (apparetnly I was having contractions, go figure) and didn't feel like showering even though I was due for one. ?I shaved too, soooo glad I did that!!
