is your pediatrician going to be at the hospital to do a newborn assessment on your baby, or are you using the hospitalist pediatrician and then yours sees the baby a few days after discharge? thanks!
My Pediatrician doesn't go to our particular hospital as it is not an affiliated with the Medical Group (pretty lame I think but I love the Dr. so I'm sticking with her) so my hospital is just going to have an On-Call Pediatrician check her out and discharge her.
We'll use a hospital pedi...only because the one I chose can't work in that particular hospital. There are several hospitals in our area...I guess its an insurance thing or something.
My pedi said to call when I am in the hospital or when I get home... so I guess whoever is on call at the hospital will check out my baby, although the doctor does have privileges at the location where I am delivering.
Our pedi does not see patients at the hospital I'm delivering at, so no. Whoever is on call will see and discharge her. We will have an appointment to see our own pedi with in the first week or two. No big deal, I don't think. I certainly wouldn't change my OB over it.
