  • If also BFing, not until you wean.

  • When it starts taking a longer time to finish a bottle than normal.  Typically, if you're comfortable with it-3,6 and 9 months you will go up to a faster flow nipple.  Just take it easy the first couple of times and baby generally adapts really quickly.

  • and if not breast feeding? what signs do you look for? Startingyesterday DD would start her bottle, and appear to be eating like a champ, only to have taken 1/2 an ounce in the time it normally took her to take 3 times that amount.

I had Dh pick up the next level nipples, but I'm not sure thats the solution

  • Oh, and 3 weeks seems soooooo early to me, but i am lost as to why else this might be happening
  • I am BFing. But DH feeds him with a bottle at night. And he will be getting breastmilk and formula once I go back to work from a bottle.
  • I'm fully weaned now and just started introducing the fast flow to my 4 month old.  She choked a couple of times, so I think it's still too early yet.
  • If BFing still your baby needs the slow to keep his/her draw at the breast strong. The faster the nipple flow the lazier the suck at the breast and that will harm your supply.
  • When he started getting restless finishing a bottle, it was more/less around 3 months, the time wehn the first changeover is recommended.  The first time he began choking, so I waited a few more weeks and then he switched with no problem
  • That is good to know. Thank you!
