When it starts taking a longer time to finish a bottle than normal. Typically, if you're comfortable with it-3,6 and 9 months you will go up to a faster flow nipple. Just take it easy the first couple of times and baby generally adapts really quickly.

and if not breast feeding? what signs do you look for? Startingyesterday DD would start her bottle, and appear to be eating like a champ, only to have taken 1/2 an ounce in the time it normally took her to take 3 times that amount.
I had Dh pick up the next level nipples, but I'm not sure thats the solution
If BFing still your baby needs the slow to keep his/her draw at the breast strong. The faster the nipple flow the lazier the suck at the breast and that will harm your supply.
When he started getting restless finishing a bottle, it was more/less around 3 months, the time wehn the first changeover is recommended. The first time he began choking, so I waited a few more weeks and then he switched with no problem
