You've got to be kidding me...

...I broke my dang foot yesterday morning.  I was getting out of bed yesterday morning and my left foot was asleep.  When I went to put pressure on it as I was walking and it gave out and I rolled it over.  I heard the crack and remember thinking, "well that didn't sound too good."  I went on with my business got some ice and went back to bed.  When I woke back up two hours later it was HUGE and I couldn't put weight on it.  I went to the ER and got and xray and sure enough I broke it.  I went to the orthopedic today and he put me in a aircast that I can take on and off and walk on, thank goodness.  I kept thinking about how I was going to be able to care for Max AND get him to dialysis.  Thank goodness for my parents and inlaws.

They told me that if it has broken about an inch closer to my toes I would have needed surgery to place a screw in it.  Goodness sakes, can we now get a break from all of this mayhem?  Geesh.

 Vent over.

  • You poor thing.  That sucks.  But, it is good that you can still walk on it and take care of your precious son.  Hopefully soon you all will get a break (no pun intended) from all the chaos.  Try to rest as much as possible.

  • Youch! Strangely, I always wondered if it was easier to break a limb because of it being asleep. I guess I know my answer!

I hope you heal up quickly and I'm happy to hear you have a strong network of family who can help care for both you and Max. Hugs!

  • YOUCHERS!  Mental note- do not get up and try to walk if foot is asleep. Thanks for the advice, and I hope your foot feels better soon!!!
  • That sucks!  I broke my foot at work running up the stairs for a timeout promo.  I kicked a stair and stumbled but didn't think anything of it.  It was sore but I didn;t even know it ws broken until I finally sat down at the end of the game. I got the air cast too and it wasn't too bad.  I was like new after 6 weeks.

    Hope you feel better soon!
