3rd Trimester

Are your friends asking for their baby stuff back?

My friends are awesome and have saved stuff for DH and I.  We have an abundance of clothes and toys, but some things we want to get on our own.

I have a friend that will call me and tell me things like, "Oh I have a crib fish tank music player I'm dropping off today."

When she arrives at the house, she calls me to tell me DH has to come outside and help her carry stuff in.  One thing turns into boxes and boxes.  She doesn't stay, just drops off boxes an says, "I figured you could use these.  I'll need them back later incase we have another."....and then takes off.

A few people have done this.  She's not the only one.  I think it's incredibly sweet and helpful, but I'm starting to think our house is turning into a storage unit.  I have  bunch of boxes i have to go through.  I can't keep things straight.

Re: Are your friends asking for their baby stuff back?

  • My sister did that to me. We declined her stuff, since I don't know when she plans to have another. It would suck if I still needed something and she asked for it back miduse!
  • Loading the player...
  • Everything we get from someone we label and intend to give back to that person, unless they have specified otherwise.
  • I do not borrow anything, but if i would i would label things. Plus, do not be shy to tell people that some things you do not need. Sounds like that some of them just trying to free the space in the basement or garage.
  • Anyone who offered stuff with the "I may need it back" got told thanks but no thanks.  I seriously could not keep track of it all.  How would I know what outfit belonged to the girl who wanted her stuff back versus stuff I bought, received as gifts or received as hand-me-downs from folks who didn't want their stuff back?  It's just too hard.  For a larger item, like a swing, I get it.  But otherwise it's too tough.  I'd give the stuff back telling her that it'll be too hard to keep it all separate but thanks for the thought.
