Feeling like a hypocrite

So, my parents are biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig christians and, if it were their choice, we would do the full on baptism for DD. Well, DH and I don't really drink the Organized Religion Koolaide and have agreed to do a dedication.  Basically saying that we will raise our kids in a home with God present. 

Well, Im now feeling like a hypocrite b/c I want the girls to make their own choices about God/Christianity... but I'm about to stand up in my old church, in front of 50 family/friends, and say a bunch of stuff that we are basically doing just to get everyone together.

Damn.  I totally am...

  • I am Catholic.  To me I see her baptism/christening as a day of our community of friends/family saying we are all here to guide her in life.  To help her, protect her, and love her.  To me it's just more for the adults! But when she is older and going through confirmation/first communion then this is her decision.  Just my opinion...
