when did your registry stalking pay off? I am about three weeks from my shower and nothing is happening. I realize it's not about the gifts, but both me and the hubs are hesitant to go out an buy a crap load of stuff, only to get it all later anyway. If it were up to us, we'd have bought pretty much everything already, but everyone (friends, family) are like "don't buy stuff, you'll be having a shower" . I appreciate it, but I really would like to plan more than a few weeks in advance. Sorry if I seem like a gift grubber.

Re: not to be a greedy moocher but....
My shower is next weekend (Sunday the 22nd) and no one's purchased anything from my registry yet. Invitations went out about two weeks go.
I'm hoping that this weekend is the weekend when people purchase things, but I have a feeling it'll probably more than likely be the 21st when most of the things get purchased.
So frustrating to sit here, though, and watch day after day go by with no one buying anything!!
Soon to celebrate the day we met, even if the day before marks when we said goodbye.
I started stalking in Jan. My shower was last weekend. The 15 things gone in Jan were the 15 things at the shower...
It did not pay off for me. I'm glad I did it though, so I wouldn't expect any 'big' surprises, like a swing.
We are going shopping in the beginning of March for the rest of our baby stuff.
A lot of people shopped the day of my shower. Now, I have to deal with the fact that somethings have been bought (by people who missed the shower) that I'm still waiting to recieve.
What I did... a few weeks before my shower Target had a big sale, so I stocked up on supplies, saved the receipts, and set them aside. After my shower I went back through everything and returned what I no longer needed.
I also bought my bedding and a few other things myself and marked it off as fulfilled on my registry. This way they knew that I already had it.

Also, don't count on getting much off your registry that is "online only". Which sucks because Target switched most of my stuff to "online only" a few weeks before my shower. Make sure your registry is full of stuff the can buy in the store... if you don't they are more likely to shop for things not on your registry. You can always take things back and buy your online only wish list (I know. I'm terrible.)

ditto. I know what you mean though. I`m probley only having one shower (unless there`s another planned for me) and that will be a church shower probably a month after the baby`s here! I know a bunch of people will bring me outfits or whatever in the hospital though. You`re lucky to have one before baby! It`s free stuff!
I didn't register, but if I was going to a shower i'm sure I'd shop the day before. And, I've noticed that lots of people will print our the registry, but not have the sales clerk check it off as being purchased. So, perhaps you did get tons of stuff taken off your list. Good luck.
