Describe your ideal NB stash

I am thinking about a NB stash. Please describe your perfect stash that is budget friendly, but it would not have to be ultra cheap, just something reasonable (like not all custom made with glorious fabrics). Please give specifics like how many (and for ex w GMD what edge color). Thanks a bunch!!!!

And I would buy used. I have only bought 2 new diapers for my entire stash...and they were OS.

I'd say....

1 dozen Preemie Prefolds
1 dozen Orange Edge GMD
1 dozen KL0s
6 NB Swaddlebees (because they're smaller than KL0s)
6 XS Thirsties Covers
1 dozen BG AIOs (For Outtings, DH & MIL)

I think I'd be happy with that.

right now we have:

-1 doz preemie prefolds

-1 doz infant prefolds

-1 doz KL0s

-1 doz nb mutts

-6 xs Thirsties Fab Fitteds

-6 XS BG AIOs

-4 wools covers

Still need to add some pul covers(I think probably a combo of proraps and thirsties) and we'll be set!

I would say the stash we had was ideal for us, as it worked for us

24 preemie prefolds

4 thirsties xs

3 snappis

2 wool covers

The only thing I might change is adding another doz pfs.

we have/had:

24 orange edge PF
18 yellow edge PF
12 thirsties fab fitted
3 nb size bububebe
3 nb size nanipoos
2 XS olive jane covers
4 XS thirsties covers

DS is now 9.5 lbs and the orange edge PF are a tight squeeze, and my XS olive janes are pretty tight on his thighs but all the rest has lots of room to grow. the nanipoos never fit him quite right.

And I would have used the disposables I got as gifts instead of buying all the extra fitteds and AIOs. It would have been a lot cheaper.

DD was 7 lb 3 oz at birth and she grew out of the orange edge SO quickly. Once they got tight, I had a hard time getting a good fit. They were still bulky, so I don't see the need to spend the extra $ to have them a little smaller.?

It's best to save up for diapers that will last longer. They grow SO quickly. ?

our stash was really close to perfect for us. It included:

1 doz orange edge GMDs (could skip and just do yellow)

6 MotherEase Sandy's Fitted XS (bamboo)

3 Thirsites Fab Fitted XS (I'd go for 6 or 12 if doing it over)

3 Thirsties Covers XS

2 MotherEase Airflow Covers (as backups - didn't love these)

4 MotherEase AIO S - he didn't fit in them til about 2 months, but they then became our go-to night-time diaper, and he's prolly going to stay in them for another 2 months more.

1 doz yellow edge GMDs

2 snappis

We survived her first month with:

3 Thirsties Fab Fitted XS

6 Kissaluvs Size 0

3 GMD Infant fitteds

12 Unbleached Periwinkle edge GMB prefolds (almost same size as yellow)

12 green-edge infant prefolds (got free from friend)

1 Thirsties XS cover

2 Bummies Brights NB covers

1 Prowraps NB cover

1 Swaddlebees Fleece NB cover

Two Snappis

Results: The Swaddlebees cover was cute and breathed but she outgrew super fast. A few days later she outgrew the Bummis. We had more prefolds than we needed but we didn't expect the free ones. The GMD infant fitteds fit terribly when she was little but are far better now. The fitteds were great for DH who was terrified of cloth diapers - he preferred the KL0s due to the snaps and stretchiness. The Thirsties XS was too big the first two weeks but after that became the absolute favorite cover. By one month, she was fitting into some one-size and most size small diapers and out of the NB covers and XS Thirsties fitteds.

Perfect collection for the first month would be:

5 Thirsties Fitteds XS

5 KL0s

12 yellow or periwinle prefolds

2 Snappis

2 Prowrap covers, 3 Thirsties XS covers

I think this would be my ideal stash (assuming baby is similar to DS in size/body type/growth)...

12 orange edge GMD pfs
12 yellow edge GMD pfs
6 Thirsties XS covers
2-3 wool soakers
2-3 snappis
6 XS AIO, Thirsties or BG
6 XS fitteds, Thirsties or KL0s (leaning toward Thirsties b/c DH hates snaps)

I have not actually tried the GMDs, fitteds or BG AIOs, but a lot of folks rave about them on here. I would consider getting more AIOs and no fitteds because our daycare will use the AIOs (though when we have DC#2, I really want to SAH, so that may not be an issue). Based on input of others who have gotten the orange edge pfs, I may actually just get all yellow edge or periwinkle (I think that's the in between size).

I didn't cd DS as a newborn unfortunately, but here is what I would do for my next baby. ??

1 dozen periwinkle edge pf

1 dozen newborn mutts - these are supposed to fit until 12 pounds

3 xs bg aio

3 xs very baby aio

3 snappis (already have these though)?

3 preemie imse vimse covers

3 xs thirsties cover
