can I use baby powder with cloth diapers?

Re: Baby Powder/Cloth Diapers

  • I have heard it will mess with the pul. ?Also, not the best thing for a baby.

  • I think it would depend on the type of cloth diaper. Pockets: absolutely not. I'm sure the powder would clog the holes in the microfleece that let the moisure through to the inserts. Powder might not matter with prefolds.

Also, you may know this already, but baby powder in general isn't recommended anymore. The talc (I think) in conventional powder isn't good for babies to breathe.

  • I don't put it directly on my baby, I put it on my hands and then put on baby. I just wanted to see if it would help with her super chubby thighs.
  • I was told by Cotton Babies not to use cornstarch powder with our BG 3.0s as it messes with the absorbency.
  • I've used it a few times with no problems, but I do think that regular use would cause it to clog up synthetic fabric. I don't think it would be as bad on cotton.
