i remember baby wise on 0-6 and people were totally against it, but i am wondering if it's just bad for newborns or the whole concept of the book is no good. the reason i ask is b/c i called the pedi yesterday and told them about the sleep problems i was having with DD and she suggested that book. the reason i ask is b/c i don't really know that much about it. i have the ferber book and i am thinking of doing that. Any thoughts or advice would be great! thanks!?
Re: baby wise- ever a good idea?
I don't think it's ever a good idea since the dude who wrote it and developed the theories in there is a quack.
There are lots of great books out there (Ferber, Baby Whisperer, etc.) that are written by reputable experts in the field of infant sleep. Why not go with those instead of a book by Crazy Night School Mininster Guy, kwim?
I'm actually reading it right now in preparation for this baby. So far, I really haven't read anything that I thought was crazy. I think most people who bash the book have probably never read it.
As with anything I read, I will take it with a grain of salt. kwim? It's not the bible. I think the main point of the book is to have a routine of eat, wake, sleep. To me that seems like a good idea.
If I were you, I'd read it and decide for yourself what you think.
I've also read baby whisperer, hshhc and the ferber book.
