Anyone else, NOT have a nursery?

Yah, I am pretty bummed about it too, We have a mother daughter set up with my parents so we can save some money for a house.. BUYING IN NJ IS AWFUL still, anywhoo---  Our "nursery" will be a section of our bedroom for the time being. I am getting really sad when I see all your wonderful ideas and furniture.

Anyone else temporarily sharing their space with baby?

Re: Anyone else, NOT have a nursery?

  • We don't!!!! Well as of right now at least. We are putting on an addition and can't start until April because of the weather. Who knows, we might not even have our house available by the time the baby gets here...

  • Our baby will be upstairs in our bedroom for awhile.  We're just setting up the pack n play.  We have a guestroom downstairs but will probably have too many visitors to turn it into a nursery for awhile.  I'm kinda bummed b/c I really want to make the space for the baby but I just don't think it's going to happen.  I don't even know if we'll set up the crib for awhile.  DH's parents gave us a cradle that we'll keep on the first floor for naps during the day.
  • Sam will be in a Pack N Play bassinet in our bedroom in our apartment for a while.  He'll come in late June/early July, and we're praying my husband can graduate by September, so we'll be moving back home and buying a house then, so then Sam will get a nursery to himself.

  • We don't have a nursery either. Our two-bedroom apartment has 2 queen size beds and the spare bedroom is full of boxes right now. We are moving this summer so we are waiting to get nursery furniture until after we get to our new apartment. We are hoping to rent a three-bedroom or 2-bedroom with a den so we can have a nursery, a master bedroom and a guest bedroom.

  • We are!!!  We bought our house a few years back and only bought a 3 bdrm.  We have 2 boys already (5 and 10) and I just don't think it would be fair to take away their private space they are use to.  They already fight and drive me crazy and they are in seperate rooms, I can't imagine if they shared.  We don't mind it though b/c I am going to breast feed and so I know she will be with us all the time anyway.  Plus we have "extra" rooms downstairs to put all the fun baby stuff like the swing and bouncy seat.  Our room is big though so it will be fine.  It will also be good birthcontrol  : )
  • I don't feel THAT bad about it though. DS had a beautiful nursery that he NEVER used once. We ended up co-sleeping and will do that again with this one.

  • I don't know anyone with an official nursery. I will set up DC's room as a "baby room" and when they get older move out the baby stuff and move in some other stuff like a bed etc. I've never seen anyone who had an actual set aside official nursery for more then 1 kid etc.

  • We have the exact same situation it seems. FI and I are living with my parents until we save up the money to buy a house, so baby will have it's own section of our room (which is quite large, thankfully). We are not getting a full-sized crib unless we have to before we move out, and we are just putting in a little storage thing with drawers/shelves for baby's clothes, diapers, and other necessary things.
  • Baby will stay with us for a while, until we can get a bigger place Sad   I love the idea of having him there with us but I would've loved to set up his nursery Sad
  • Baby will be sharing a section of our room as well....but what's worse..that section still needs flooring and my husband is apparently waiting until I go in labor to BEGIN!! argh!
  • We are moving a few months after the baby is born (hopefully) so he will live in our bedroom as well.  I might have a changing table in the spare bedroom and his stuff in the dresser, but otherwise it will probably still be half a spare bedroom without the bed!  Just think, once you buy your new home you will enjoy finally decorating your nursery!  :-)

  • we will be sharing our room with the baby for the first two months, until our lease is up and we can get a three bedroom. we decided it wouldnt be fair to put the baby in the same room as my 5 year old waking her up all hours of the night..plus it would be easier to feed him and all anyway.

Hes due June 9th and we will be moving beginning/Mid August, so not too long.

  • *raises hand*

I'm also pretty sad about it. Setting up a nursery is such a right of passage and we are not in a place to do that right now. We will be moving, I'm just not sure when.

  • Baby will be in a pack n play in our room for the first couple months then move into a crib in their room.

We are renting though, so I won't be able to do much decorating such as painting etc.

But, don't be sad about it, you can still get some nice stuff for the baby and if you have space maybe set up a baby corner in your room?

I think HGTV has a section for setting up a nursery in your room

  • We dont have a nursery...he/she will just have a corner of our bedroom until next year when we move...
  • We have a guest bedroom/office and we're moving MOST of the stuff out of there for the baby. However, he or she will be sharing with daddy's computer and our filing cabinet. We have no other place for it (won't fit in our bedroom). We rent a condo... can't afford anything now. Housing prices in NJ are insane.

  • Baby will share w/ us the first few months, then it will share w/ it's 2 sisters!  Fun, fun, fun for everyone. :o)
