Any updates on Kady?

Not really...only the repeat CBC came back yesterday showing the same thing, a highly elevated white blood cell count. They went ahead and started her on antibiotics but aren't yet sure of what's causing the elevated count. We should have more test results today, at least the urinalysis which will hopefully show that it's just a UTI. If it's not that, hopefully the blood culture or urine culture will show something, we should find out about those either today or tomorrow.

She was up all night crying & feverish and I'm home again with her today. She does seem to be acting a bit better this morning.

Oh poor little Kady! I'm glad she's feeling better this morning. Hopefully the antibiotics will help her.

I'm sorry to hear it was another rough night Alison. It's the worst when you're not sure what's wrong. We went down that possible UTI/Kidney infection road with Nora too many times. The testing stinks. Hope she has a better day today.

Shoot, I was hoping to hear she was doing much better. It's such a helpless feeling when your little baby is sick and you can't do much to help. I'm sure it's a comfort to both of you to be home together. I hope the antibiotics kick in soon and that you get some real answers quickly.

Well, I just got a call from the doctor. Her urinalysis was negative so it doesn't look like a UTI. It still could be, if something shows in the urine culture but we won't know that until tomorrow or Saturday. They basically said it's possible that we'll never know what kind of bacterial infection she has but as long as she's improving with antibiotics that's what's important. They don't want her to go back to daycare until at least Monday, so it looks like I'll have to be off again tomorrow since DH just started his new job this week...oh, the joys of being a working mom....I can only imagine the piles of work sitting on my desk. Kady comes first of course, but I hate feeling like a slacker employee, especially in this job climate.

The timing of these things is never good, is it? I know I always feel like a slacker employee when I have to take off when Justin is sick.

Can you tell if the antibiotics are helping at all yet? It's not too comforting to hear that you may never know the cause of the infection, but I guess your doctor is right as long as she responds.

It's hard to say if they're working - she is much less fussy this morning but is still really tired (of course that could have to do with not sleeping all night.) I haven't taken her temp. but she doesn't feel warm, I did give her Tylenol though so who knows...

Definitely no fun, but try not too let it get to you. Kady needs you and that's what trumps everything!

I just paged you and asked the same thing and then decided to see if someone else had asked before I posted. I've been thinking of her. I hope she starts feeling better soon!
