I highly, HIGHLY recommend the No Cry Nap Solution. I am going on Day 3 of GREAT naps just from making a few changes. Before this DD slept exactly 30 minutes and then woke up.
Here are the changes I made, all suggestions from the book. I know some of these are SIDS no-no's but given DD is 4 months I do feel comfortable doing these for naps only when I do check on her.
-Lay an afghan in her crib so she is on something cozy (the book suggests flannel or jersey knit sheets, but I didn't want to buy new sheets)
-Shut the shades in her room
-Put a small stuffed animal on each side of her at her hip, apparently this helps her feel more cozy and secure
These were just what worked for me, there are TONS of other suggestions in her book.
I know this sounds crazy but just doing a few changes had such great improvements, I had to wake up DD from her 90 minute nap this morning so we could go to our baby and me class!
Re: PSA-Those with LO's who don't nap
This is great news! But honestly I hesitate to buy any more freaking baby how to books! We've bought/read Happiest Baby on the Block; Baby Whisperer; several Sear's books; etc. etc. None have really opened my eyes to anything new that we hadnt either heard of or already tried or even agree with.
However, DD does only sleep for 30 min if in her crib for naps. However, I went and got her from her crib after napping 30 min. She was crying and seemed wide awake. It was time for her to eat, so I fed her and she fell back asleep in my arms. She is now sleeping next to me on her boppy and a blanket for the past 40 min. She def. likes to be cozy but Im scared to let her sleep with a blanket in the crib now that she can roll side to side and kicks her legs up to her face...
Can you convince me otherwise and/or that this book would be a good investement? I've seen a lot of posts about it, but I still just hesitate...
Hmmmm.....I have HBOTB and BW too and tried those with failures. So I was leary of another book too but it got recommended to me on here and has great reviews on Amazon so that is what convinced me.
