Sorry it has taken so long!
I had a fairly easy pregnancy although things started to get a little questionable at the end. In the last two weeks I was pregnant I developed swelling and pain in the feet, some headaches, a little bit of potein spillover, and at my last doc appointment my bp was through the roof. After an easy prgnancy though, I was completely shocked when I went to my 38 week appointment and my doc said he really didn't like the direction things were heading and he would rather deliver me that night that wait until we were dealing with a sick baby and mommy, possibly as early as the next day.
DH and I got in th car and headed straight to the hospital. We were both completely shaken up. When we got there he was given scrubs and I was given a gown. They took blood and the anesthesiologist (sp?) came to see me. When everyone was ready I walked into the OR and sat on the bed. Getting the spinal block wasn't bad, it burned slightly for a few seconds. The worst part was that I was cold and still shocked so I couldn't stop shaking. I was then laid down and shortly after they used an alcohol wipe and a pin to test what I could feel. My arms were strapped down, which I had been worried about, but honestly there was so much going on that it didn't bother me at all. DH was brought in and we were under way. My doc had said the baby would be out in 2 minutes. Yeah, it took 9! DH and I were freaking out. The nurse kept saying it everything was okay but it turned out I had a ton of scar tissue from my last surgery and I was a mess inside. Next time we do this, my doc said we will have a surgical team on hand to repair my insides after I deliver the baby.
More importantly, about 9 minutes after we started, we heard a cry and my doc laughing that the baby had peed on him. Hands down one of the best moments of my life. Jaxson Reece was born at 8:20pm on January 26th. He was 6 lbs. 7oz. and perfect. Apgars of 8 & 9. Once he was cleaned on the sterile side of the screen, DH held him while they sewed me back up. The nurse untied one arm so I could touch him. I couldn't really see him since he was so bundled but the look on DH's face is one I will never forget.
We were then taken to recovery where I didn't get to hold him for another hour and a half because I couldn't get rid of the shakes. That was the hardest part for me. I can't explain how badly I wanted to hold my baby but even I knew it wasn't safe, I was shaking so hard I could barely talk. When I finally got to hold him it was amazing and the nurse was helped me start to bf.
He went down to 5lbs. 13 oz. in the hospital so we were on an intensive feeding schedule. It was very emotionally and physically hard but he is now at 7 lbs. 7oz, he has been an amazing eater. A little rough for me between clogged ducts and no sleeping but he is so worth it!
Before I forget, the one things I can't live without, my boppy. It maies a world of difference when feeding. The one waste of money for me was the Ultimate crib sheet. I can change a regular sheet in a few seconds, that damn thing takes forever to snap every snap. I hate it!
I hope everyone is well, I will post pics when I can.
