  • DS's pedi recommended we do it by 3 months. ?From what I've read, after 3 months babies start forming habits and associations, so I suppose if that's true, it would be tougher to move an older baby if they were used to being in your room/bed. ?

That said, we moved DS out of our room and into his crib at just over 4 months and he didn't seem to care at all.?

We moved DS at 2 months old because I just wasn't sleeping well with him right there. I woke up with every murmur he made.  By his 2nd night in his crib, he dropped to only 1 night feeding instead of 2.  All in all, everyone slept better even though I had to go up and down the stairs to feed him.

  • around 2 is good because they can walk and climb in and out ok on their own. but i mean if your child is younger and would be ok, go for it. my lil boy was about 14 mths when i moved him into his bed, but he still likes to sleep with his mommy, which is what im trying to break right now. GL

  • DS always slept in his own room he just slept in his car seat. At 10wks we went cold turkey into the crib and surprisingly he took to it really well.

Same thing for us except I'm lucky and the nursery is right next to our room.  DS made the transition without a hitch!  But really you have to do what works best for your family.

  • Our doctor told us to do it by 2 months.  He said that Will would sleep better and we would sleep better.  I was initially very nervous about it because I was scared that something would happen to him and I wouldn't hear it, but honestly, once I made it through the first night knowing he was ok, it was smooth sailing.  BTW - the doctor was right, now he sleeps through the night!  We have a video monitor, and it really helps with peace of mind.
