FVCK. they're doing a work baby shower for us...

"us" being me, my WTE coworker, and another girl who has a high-risk pregnancy and is only able to work a couple of hours a week.

I don't like either of these women, or most of the people I work with for that matter.  I don't want to sound ungrateful, but they scheduled it on a day when I already have an appointment, and they always force people to donate money or give gifts.  So everyone feels obligated and that isn't how it should be, right?

ugh.  I. Hate. The. Navy.

    Just take with a grain of salt and put on your happy face.  Anything they give will help, plus it gives them a reason not to work for an hour and eat cake.

    So, you're actually doing them a favor! See.

    I think it's nice that they want to throw a shower.  However, I hate the "forcing" part of gift giving.  We always go on the approach of... this is what we are doing for so-and-so.  If you would like to contribute, please send $ to so-and-so and they will purchase the group gift.  If not, no worries.  I have forced gift giving events.

    You seem to work with really stupid people. I'm sorry you have to waste your time with them. I don't really want a work shower myself because it will be considered my lunch break. Are you the type of person that doesn't want anything from people they don't like? I'm totally like that. What's the point of smiling up in someone's face if you can't stand them?

    Well you coud always tell the people throwing it that you have a mandatory appt that you can't miss and not to include you. But I would just try and play happy and go with the flow of what they do. People who don't want to donate usually don't put alot in the kitty in my experience.

    Maybe it will go smoother than what you think.
