Who was in the room with you?

Re: Who was in the room with you?

  • My husband.

In the end, there was nothing to see- I got an emergency c-section. But when I was pushing, yeah, he was right there. Which I didn't like- we had discussed our labour plans and I wanted him sitting on the bed behind me, so I could lean against him. However, when it was time to push the nurse told him to stand near the foot of the bed and I was in no mood to correct her.

Next time I plan to have a midwife and will have all these details hammered out before hand, and we both hope to have him sitting on the bed behind me, so I can lean against him.

  • I had my Husband as well and it was great. He did watch everything and so did I. They had a mirror so i could watch too and I know its a little weird but it was quit amazing actually watching it happen. I am glad that I did.

  • I ended up with a c-section with DD and my ex was in the room with me the whole time.

  • My husband was. And yes, they see everything. He was holding my leg, helped me to the bathroom numerous times, etc.

  • My husband and my childhood best friend (she acted as my doula).  I couldn't have done it without them :)
  • My nurse, my husband and my Mom were in the room with me.  Yes, they saw everything although my Mom stayed at the head of the bed and helped hold my head and back during each push.  MH held a leg and the nurse held the other leg.  They saw it all!

  •  With my DS my hubby was the only person I chose to be in there but there was a room full of people because he was preemie...not sure who saw what to be honest. I was so scared I don't remember much.

With my DD my hubby, the nurse, and the dr and yes they saw everything. DH and the nurse helped hold my legs.

  • I had my hubby and my midwife - although she was busy doing admin type stuff and prepping gear etc during the contractions so it felt like it was just my hubby and I which was good. I'm a really shy person so I had a gown on all the time (no way I was parading around starkers!) and I gave specific instructions to my hubby to be above my waist level at all times :)

The only other person who came in was the specialist because I need a ventuese delivery and by that stage I didn't care - although it really bugged me he was so chirpy!!!

    Best of luck!?

  • Two nurses, doctor, and DH. ?Yes...they all saw everything. ?DH didn't plan on seeing everything...but realized that when he was holding a leg, it was impossible not to look. ?lol!
  • With my first it was my husband and he seen it all...but he was also trying to see her come out.  My second I let my sister come since she was due a few months after me, my best friend was there, and of course my husband.  I am pretty sure everyone seen everything.  With this one it will be my best friend here (not my childhood friend but I have known her for 3 years, ever since I got to Germany).  I might have another friend there with my older 2 kids since they will be cutting the cord in daddy's absence.  I don't want the kids in the room the whole time so the friend watching them could bring them up at the very end.  If it was a perfect delivery, it would be just me and my husband but the Army had other plans so he will come home for 2 weeks when she is a month or 2 old.  I am just grateful I have my friend here that is more then willing to be by my side through it all!
  • With DS#1: My DH, my sister, two girlfriends, a nurse and my midwife

With DS#2: My DH, two midwives, a nurse, and two girlfriends

Yes, they got to see the entirety of both wonderful births.

  • DH and my MIL, yes that's right my MIL.  My mother would have been there, but she didn't make it in time.  DH and my MIL stayed behind me so they didn't see anything.  DH didn't want to look, he has a weak stomach.  There was a ton of people in the room though... Dr, 3 nurses, a nurse in training, and 4 people from the NICU team because DS had meconium.

Honestly, I am a pretty modest person, but when you are in the middle of pushing a kid out, you don't care who watches, you just want him/her OUT!
