We have one and we've used it maybe 4 times since we've lived here. There's a few reasons, first it was just the 2 of us so we didn't have that much stuff. Also, we use paper plates and plastic cups so there definitely wasn't that much stuff to wash. As for the baby's bottles and stuff, I just wash them after they are used.
So, now I was to start using the dishwasher and not buying using the paper plates and plastic cups all the time.
Anyway, how often do you use it? What do you put in it? Do you pre-wash? Help me - I am clueless about the dishwasher!!
Re: If you have a dishwasher, do you use it?
I love the dishwasher. LOL I usually turn it on about 2x a wk. It is just DH and I . We use paper plates for breakfast and lunch (if we are home), and use the nice plates for dinner. We sometimes use plastic cups for drinks, but mostly use nondisposable, so those too go in the washer. I usually do a light cleaning before I place them in there, but I feel they are much cleaner once they are rinsed thoroughly.
MIL NEVER uses hers, and it acutally broke. And now, after 20 yrs, she's realizing the amazing power of it... she she has to have hers replaced.

It's Beshert
We use ours about once or twice a week. The only things I don't put in there are our pots (they're the Emeril brand and say that they are not dishwasher safe). It's DH's job to do the dishes and since he just lets them pile up in the sink we end up using the dishwasher. If we washed as we used though, we prob wouldn't use the dishwasher much.
i am, too. i can't imagine throwing out tons of paper plates and cups.
however, there is that whole wasting water aspect that really bothers me, so I really want to save up for a high efficiency model.
We use it all the time now because I just hate doing dishes and being on bedrest and all it's just easier to start filling it from the morning and by night time it's full and ready to run. only prewash when it's really crusty stuff but usually no. the little jetdry stuff bottle and then the stuff that comes in little pouches so you don' thave to pour anything out...those make a mess.
anyway GL
I was JUST thinking about this today, how funny! I'm so tired of all the hand washing on a constant basis, but I wonder if it's cheaper than running the washer everyday? So I'm going to try it for a month, and then compare the new water bill to last months.
