2nd Trimester

Have you experienced this..maybe TMI?

Have you experienced a little bit of blood in your cervical mucus during this trimester?  I know it is common right after you get pregnant but I haven't heard anything about it in the second trimester.  Today I spotted twice--it was CM tinged with a small amount of blood and now I am worried.  I never experienced this in my last pregnancy.  I am going to call my doctor asap tomorrow morning but I could use some reassuring words.  I have no pain (and the blood isn't sex related since that hasn't happened) but I haven't felt the baby today either--she would squirm here and there and I just felt kicks for a few minutes on Monday and Tuesday but nothing today.  Thanks so much

  • I haven't experienced any spotting, but the lack of movement could be related to the baby's position...my little guy had been kicking me in the same spot for 2+ weeks and in the last couple days he must have changed how we was sitting in there because I don't feel him as often but when I do it's in a different location. I hope everything turns out okay for you!

  • If you have spotting at 21 weeks, call your doctor. It could be a number of things (I know from experience) and everything could be fine, but you're better off on the safer side.
  • I had spotting like that in the first tri. It was like bloody tissue. I went to the ER and they said it was my "angry cervix"..Ofcourse it is!  They said it was normal. I would still call the doc. I hope it turns out ok!
  • if you're worried, call the oncall line- thats what its there for!
  • are you sure it's coming from your vagina and is not a hemorriod or anal tear from straining with a bowel movement?  You can know this by taking some TP on your finger and inserting into your vagina a little bit.... if it comes out with no blood- then you're OK and it's coming from behind.

if you are having any bleeding/spotting- call your OB.  It is probably nothing-but you should get checked out -b/c some of the bad things that it could be can be helped with meds, bed rest, etc.

I had spotting at 13w and my OB had me go to the ER to get checked. All was fine- but it made us feel a lot better to have gone to the ER.

  • I had some red spotting last night which turned into just brown discharge but I called my OB's exchange number and she had me come in today for an ultrasound.  They couldn't explain the bleeding but everything looked great.  It really eases your mind to call your doctor and talk with them.  Good luck.
