8 Weeks Paid Leave! Whoo-hoo!

My company just changed it's policy that instead of giving 2 weeks paid maternity they are now changing it to 8 weeks. Dad's now get 3 weeks (previously 2). This rocks.

We get 7 paid, and if I have any sick/vac, I can use that for any part of the other 5 weeks. I'm hoping to have a week left so I can get 8, but we'll see.

Wow! That is great. I don't think dads get anything with my company and DH and I work for the same company. He is just going to use vacation time. He gets 4 weeks anyway!

Without giving too much away I work for a very large firm. They are always on the top 100 list in Working Mother's Magazine. In addition to the 8 weeks I am also allowed to use short term disability which pays 100% of your base salary.

I work with quite a few pregnant ladies right now (something is in the water here) and we are all so excited!

Yeahhh! That's good news! We just merged last year and w/that we gained better maternity leave rights. So, if baby comes on time I'll get 8 wks paid too. If she comes early, it will only be 6 wks b/c its based on how long you've been w/the company and my anniversary is only 10 days before my due date.
