Were you required to stay in the hospital for 48 hours past birth? I was when I had Ava, and although it was totally boring it wasn't that big of a deal. This time though I will be going crazy since I have another child at home.

are you talking about the strep test? I was positive but that just meant that they were supposed to give me IV antibiotics when I was admitted prior to birth....wasn't time so it didn't happen. That was the only change.

You only get antibiotics until delivery. I dont think you have to stay 48 hrs after birth. That doesnt make any sense to me. Good thing to check on though.

I had the antibiotics before delivery but they still made me stay 48 hours after birth. It never made any sense to me either. I believe they were checking up on Ava not on me. Maybe to be sure it wasn't passed? I have no idea, there was so much going on.

I have never heard of that. I thought I was GBS+ but it turns out I wasn't. Even though I wasn't I still ended up getting the antibiotics they give to GBS+ women plus another antibiotic because I had a pretty high fever when I was in labor. Either way they never said anything about stayed longer for being GBS+.

I was GBS+, and all I got was the IV antibiotic when they put the pitocin IV in. (I was induced).

I delivered at 3:43 AM Thursday, and we left about 6 pm Friday. So no, we didn't have to stay 48 hours.

I was asked the afternoon after I gave birth (keep in mind Eli was born at like 8 at night) if I wanted to go home. Less than 24 hours and I was GBS +. They just required an IV while delivering.
