OMG! I am a nervous wreck! I am teaching my first class tomorrow, it is for a grad class in my department, pretty small class, not a big lecture hall.
I've given tons of research lectures to colleagues, but never 'taught' a class. Please give me some pointers...
Re: Teachers - please come in!
I taught middle school.
I would just make sure that you have notes with bullet points, etc., so that if you get nervous or distracted, you can refer to your notes and see exactly where you are and what points you wanted to make.
I'd also bring something to drink.
GL!
I'd probably print out the notes part, then, just so you have a reference. GL!
make sure you have more material than you'll need - that way if there's less discussion than you expect you won't be floundering at the end of the lecture with not enough material.
shut down the one student sure to disagree with every point/theory immediately. if you give them any room at the beginning they will disrupt the entire thing. don't be defensive - but do be in charge.
remember - you are the expert. good luck
