Surgery got cancelled =(

After starting to be okay with the surgery and not so upset about it the anestisiologist called and said he was cancelling Ayden's surgery for tomorrow b/c he had bronchiolitis and he didn't want to risk stirring the infection up anymore. He also needs to be off of the antibiotics for two weeks before the surgerty. I know it is best for Ayden. If they went ahead with the surhery he would more than likely have to stay over night for breathing treatments, observation, and bloodwork, which he wouldn't need if he wasn't sick. So now I have a bittersweet situation. We don't have Ayden's surgery, but I can make my Aunt's funeral. Also, Emma (my niece) is being released from the hospital today, so that is good news. So that is my update. Oh, the re-scheduled surgery is March 26th. So we'll have to go through this again in a month.

    Geesh....that's frustrating! I'm happy they recommend taking the safe road though and letting Ayden get better first.

    That stinks!  I'm sure you were anxious to put the surgery behind you.  But like you said, it is for the best... and at least you got some good news today also.

    Aw, sorry that you got your hopes up for having the surgery done and over with today, all to have it be canceled. :( At least the doc. is being proactive about wanting Ayden to have all his strength for his recovery efforts! Hang in there. :)

    ((hugs)) I hope Ayden gets better quickly. I am sorry. But I am glad that you get to go to the funeral. Maybe this was your aunts way of getting you to come to be with her at the funeral  :)

    I hope Ayden feels better soon.  It is better to be cautious about doing surgery when there is a respiratory infection.  He will rebound more quickly if he is healthy prior to the surgery.  It looks like things worked out that way for a reason, and you can be with your family when they need you.

    Wow, that is bittersweet.  Do you think they could move up his surgery if there is a cancellation?  I am glad you'll be able to make it to the funeral, though, and that's great news that your niece is doing so well.
