2nd Trimester

**lovelyopheilia**

Hey lovelyophelia!  We had our u/s this morning and everything looked fine!  The skin around the spine was intact and they did not see anything in the bowel area that would be of concern....so..so far baby looks fine!  We also found out that it's a boy!!!!  It was also DH's first visit to the Dr. with me since I have been going to a Dr. in MD (changing to VA at the end of the month) and he works in VA.  So, he drove out with me b/c I told him that we might be able to find out the sex prior to our originally scheduled level 2 u/s on March 5th!  Anyway, so we are relieved that everything looks fine.  They just recommend montly u/s to make sure the baby is growing propperly.  I wish you luck in yours tommorrow and  maybe the'll see the missed twin :-)  Take care!

  • I'm hoping my appointment goes that well too. We're going to John Hopkins tomorrow. So I'm confident if there is something wrong, then we'll find it.DH is going with me too.

What sucks is I have to drive to Bethesda in the morning to pick up the information I need for my appointment. Military care can be rather annoying sometimes.

Grats on joining Team Blue! I have this feeling that's probably what team we'll be on since DH and I really wanted a girl.

  • Do they really think there is something really wrong? I wish you guys the best and try to stay positive!  I wanted a girl too, but honestly after freaking out on Saturday I just wanted the baby to be okay :-)  I'm cool with a boy though, DH is really happy about it....now he can protect his younger sister...if we ever have one :-)

  • They aren't sure if something is wrong. I think they're more concerned that the due date was calculated wrong. I wouldn't be surprised. I've never had a 28 day cycle in my life. Usually I run from 21 to 24 days. They did not calcuate that in.

The genetics counselor told me that often at such an early ultrasound (mine was at 10 weeks 6 days) they can be off on dates. The two most common causes for the test screening positive like ours did is either the were off on the due date or they missed seeing a set of twins.

The thing about military care is that there are so many people that are going to the same facility that you don't quite get the care you pay for in the Civilian world. For now, they think it may just be a false positive screen since that's what most of them are. I will hopefully know soon what is going on and maybe even the sex early!

After my news last week, I'm the same way. I just want a healthy baby. I'm tired of not knowing what is going on.
