Re: What Injectiable do you take?

  • The only injectible I'll be taking is the ovidrel shot so far.  I had to pay $35 for it, my insurance covered the rest.

  • I take Follistim and we changed insurance this year specifically to one that would pay for it.  So, our co pay is $80 for the whole thing.  Otherwise I think it would have been closer to $1000.00 based on my dosage.
  • I've taken Follistim.  How much it costs depends a lot on how much you need to respond.  I responded well to Clomid, just never worked.  I only used 75 and 50iu for no more than 8 days, but other need more or less.  They were worried about overstimulating me and probably will do the same for you since it's your first injectiable cycle.  They should start you slow.  75iu is roughly around $60 each and we're OOP.  Oh, and Noveral (the trigger) was $50.  HTH!

  • What Injectables do you take?

    Gonal-F and Ovidrel

How much do you pay for them and are they covered by insurance?

My RE prescribed 75iu Gonal-F on CD 5, 7, 9. Each 75iu vial would have cost $60 and was not covered by my insurance. Ovidrel costs $44.25 through Freedom Fertility Pharmacy and is not covered by my insurance. Fortunately, a few very wonderful Nesties donated the meds to me.

    Good luck!

  • I use follistim.  I am very lucky in that my insurance covers it, but without insurance I believe I would have paid around $2,000 for it.

  • Oh no...I thought you got a BFP. I'm so sorry for your loss. :(

This was my first injectables cycle. I took Follistim and an Ovidrel trigger shot. I paid almost $900 for everything. I don't know the breakdown for each thing. I have insurance coverage and what I thought was an excellent prescription plan, but since these are considered specialty drugs and there are no generic alternatives I must have gotten screwed.

If we have to do another cycle I have leftover drugs, so that's good at least. But if we need more I might look into another pharmacy since I feel like the other ladies on here paid way less then I did for the same medications.

  • Oct11bride03,

Thank you.  HCG went down so Re said it was another loss.   Waiting for bleeding to start so we can try again.

  • I'm on Follistim.

I'm not sure how much I pay yet.  Our insurance changed as of January 1st and I had tons left over from the last cycle (I paid $50ish dollars in 08).  I purposely bought extra in case our new insurance wasn't as good.  I'm glad I did!

  • I take clomid, gonal F, Ovidrel and prometrium... my insurance covers all of them and my copay is $50 total.  They usually send my 6 viles of the Gonal F 75ui each.
  • I take Ovidrel and Gonal F. ?Ovidrel is $44.25, Gonal F is $239 for 300 iu. ?This cycle I only needed 150 iu, so I can save the rest for next cycle if needed. ?I order through Freedom Pharmacy - no insurance coverage for meds.
  • I just picked up my gonal-f and ovidrel. The total bill was $1728.00.

This is the OOP cost because my insurance has not officially "re-approved" the cycle yet.(orig approval time ran out)

    I got three boxes of 450 IU of gonal-f ($1650), the ovidrel($75) and a sharps container($3). Ouch.
