Ok, so what happens to a myspace or Facebook account if you die? I know that sounds bad, but at my baby shower of all places, a woman asked me if I knew the girl from my hometown that was pregnant with twins, that died in the car crash on Christmas Eve. I said I knew her and that DH and I graduated with her and her husband. That was pretty much the end of it.
It took my awhile to get her off my mind when I first found out, but I was thinking about her and I looked her up on myspace because I knew she was there, I saw her profile before she passed away. On her profile, she was talking about how she was so blessed, looking forward to the babies' arrival. She had maternity photos posted and she was wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and telling people she'd call and tell them when she delivered. Just reading it made me so sad. I started thinking, is this profile going to be here forever? What will happen to it?
Re: I Have a Very Strange, Somewhat Morbid NBR Question
I have a friend who passed away 2 1/2 years ago and his myspace account is still active. It's weird, but people still go on his page and post comments about how they miss him or that they thought of him that day.
A couple of days after the accident, one of his brothers managed to get into his account and do a bulletin from him saying he was "in a better place" and all that.
The only time I find it weird is when I get those stupid app requests that say "your friend ____ is only $1,000, buy him as a pet"...
A good friend of mine died in a car accident my senior year (funeral was the day of prom) and someone made a myspace for him. I found it creepy too.
My uncle who died last May still has his account. I think none of his children had his password to be able to add anything or delete it so, it sits there.
Soon to celebrate the day we met, even if the day before marks when we said goodbye.
