If you were to get married again...

...and it would be a private ceremony for just you and YH (like a vow renewal of sorts)... Where would you like to go?

MH just asked me to marry him again.  He said he would like to do it in Puerto Rico (but that's not "special" to me as half of my family is there and it's just a place to go).

Some place nice, romantic, and just the two of us.  What would you suggest?

(Oh yes, and we're going to do it because we have been through a rough spot and we both want to reclaim our marriage and almost "start all over.")

Re: If you were to get married again...

  • I'd go to Hawaii mostly because I (we've) never been and it would be a special place for us.

  • I have no idea however that is the freaking sweetest thing I have ever heard!
  • I would do it somewhere that is special to the both of you.  For example, you could go where you originally got engaged or a place you both have always wanted to visit.

  • I'd like to do it on a cruise. Me and DH, and a few days to vacation by ourselves and reconnect as adults, not as parents of the same child. But that soooo isn't happening for a while.

Otherwise, I'd want to recreate our honeymoon. We went to some national parks and just drove around, enjoyed the surroundings and took lots of pics, ate in restaurants and stayed in a hotel. I'd go to different parks this time, though.

If I were you, I wouldn't want Puerto Rico. I'd pick some place we hadn't ever gone before so that it would be a new memory.

There is no "proposal" location as him just asking me (over IM) is actually the first time he has ever uttered those words to me.  I have heard, "we're getting married some day" and "let's get married" from him....but never "will you marry me [again]."

We don't really have any special place between us...unless we do it at our honeymoon location in the Bahamas.  THAT's a thought, since we both have said that we want to go back there when we're NOT extremely tired from the wedding and the traveling.

  • we eloped, so it was pretty private and romantic there at the little white wedding chapel in fabulous las vegas nevada...

4 years ago today, in fact...

I mean, that's where Brittany's first wedding was...

  • I think somewhere beautiful, like the Caribbean or Hawaii is where I would want to go. ?A beach wedding with cute flow~y dresses & no shoes :)?
  • bahamas? jamaica? aruba? ? then again...there's always italy. :)

ditto J&J --that is the sweetest thing! :)

  • I would get married on the beach where we went for our honeymoon in Jamaica.  It was by far the most special place for DH and I!

  • We would do Copenhagen since it is where we met and we love travelling there (I know that doesn't help you)

LOL....I'm not laughing at you, just at the thought of us going there.  My parents got married in Copenhagen.  That would be so strange to me.  We initially got married in the same city as his parents...and then to do it all over again but where my parents got married....

  • My dh and I have talked about going to Vegas and doing this same thing ... for the same reason.  We picked Vegas because it is close to home (we are in LA) and there are some good package deals out there for vow renewals.
  • Italy. For sure. *sigh* I love Italy.

And I have to agree, that is so sweet that you're DH suggested that.

  • Well vow renewal just isn't us but if it were - New Zealand or Paris would be my first picks followed by New York :-)
  • We are going back to our honeymoon spot for our five year anniversery (Sandals-St. Lucia) it was so very special to both of us and we can't wait to recreate that in a way. I would go where your honeymoon was.
  • I would pick Maui b/c of the beautiful beaches
  • some place tropical for sure!  Probably Hawaii.
  • Hawaii, Key West, Aruba.....some place warm and exotic....and romantic!!!
  • We were married on the beach at Casa Del Mar in Cabo San Lucas. It couldnt have been more beautiful. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldnt change a thing.
  • We did it last year for our 5 year. Same thing, we had been thru a rough spot and wanted a fresh start. We were married in Santa Rosa Beach and went back there to renew our vows, just us and our kids. It was symbolic for us- we stood in the same spot where we made our vows the first time, wore the same clothes even (we didn't wear traditional wedding attire the first time around), but it was different too. We were different, our relationship was different, even the beach was different (it was hit by Katrina). We re-wrote our vows to reflect more where we were *now* but, of course, made the same commitment as we had before.
