Wow....IF like like alphabet soup!
Are they any OPKs that say FMU is okay? My RE office is having me test at 5:30am! And I said to the nurse.....but FMU isn't ideal..and she kinda looked at me like tough sh!t for me. Ha! So i droppped the issue. My RE office recommends Clearblue Easy OPKs.
Are they any specific brands where it doesnt matter the time of day? This is a stupid question...sorry. I'm going to be temping (but will also be in the Carribean when I start my Clomid so I wouldnt be surprised if my temps are invalid) so I hope I at least catch the thermal shift (if it works).
Re: OPK and FMU question
That's weird...did they give you a reason why they want you using OPKs at 5:30am? All the reading I've done says OPKs need to be done between 10am and 10pm since LH builds up in your system during the day. FMU is really not recommended at all. I guess you could try getting up to pee around midnight or 1am and then doing the OPK at 5:30, but that just seems SO weird to me.
Also, from what I've read, CBE OPKs are not that great because they require more LH then other tests in order to register a positive. Plus they're insanely expensive. I use the internet cheapies (earlypregnancytest.com ordered through Amazon) and they worked great.
Have fun on your trip!!
The only reason is because I have to call at 6am if I get a positive OPK to scedule a u/s and b/w for that same morning. I planned on testing twice...but I guess if I get a + in the evening....I cant do anything about it with the office until the next day.
Did you mean pee in a cup at midnight and then putting it in the fridge and testing it in the AM?
I bought ANswer brand at Walmart a month ago...so I am using those...BUT I did open them on 1/15 which means they are only good for 30 days. Wonder what truth that holds...
I use these & they say they are only good for a month. But I think that is a scam! I've used then after 30 days & they still work!
Just saying.
Since they're just looking to detect a surge (which usually means ovulation within 24-48 hours) I can't see why they need you to test in the morning, especially since FMU isn't good for OPKs.
If it were me I'd probably just test the night before. If you get a positive you'd call in the morning anyway since the office is closed. I just don't think you'll get an accurate result if you test in the morning, but I'm not a doctor. This is just my opinion.
No, I meant pee around midnight to get that FMU out of your system and then test at 5:30. I don't know if it would help but I think it would be better than FMU.
I've never used the Answer brand but the internet cheapies are great. 50 cents each and good for years.
