Surrogacy VS. Adoption the battle is on

Hey all,

It has always been a dream of mine to be a surrogate mother for a family with conception trouble, but in the last couple of years a new dream has become the focus for my husband and me. We have to decided that we wish to adopt any children we have rather than have our own. We want to be able to give them a life they wouldn't otherwise have because it really isn't important to me or my husband that they be our own. I guess the reason I am posting is it does make me a little sad to give up my dream of being a surrogate for another family.

Will anyone take an untried surrogate or should I move on and embrace the decision we have made to adopt?

Does your husband post here? because in my opinion that is really something you should discuss with him.

I am a little confused. I don't see why you couldn't do both. Are surrogates required to have already had children?

If you were to go through a surrogate agency, you would have to show that your lady parts can produce a child. I am not sure that when shopping for a surrogate that I would select someone who has not given birth. It is a big investment for intended families, and I would not want to put out the money for someone who is not positive her body can or will carry a child to term.
