Not too sure what to think about DH and IUI

He is not sure he wants to be in the room when I have the IUI. WTF. Seriously dude. You don't want to be in the room when you wife is being inseminated with your sperm? I can see not being there fora pap. He said he will have no problem with ultrasounds and delivery but he is not sure about the IUI.

For the ladies who have had an IUI was your husband in the room? I am sure he will end up being in there as I have a faint feeling that he is just playing stupid, but just incase...what can I say???

Mine wasn't for obvious reasons but if he had been here he would have most definitely been in the room.

Tell him it's really not that bad. He can sit up by your head and hold your hand and he won't see a thing. Honestly I really wish I had someone in there to hold my hand because that catheter can hurt sometimes. The whole process took like 2 minutes, if that and it was no big deal though. You'll have a sheet draped over your lap/thighs so he won't see a thing if he sits up top.

You should ask what the difference is between delivery and IUI?

I have no advice. I hope he comes around.

If you really want him there, tell him how important it is to you! Tell him you need support.

my DH was there for 3 of my IUI's (the first one I made him miss work - the other 2 were on weekends)

my first one, the plan was he would be there to hold my hand. Well, didn't happen that way. After the doc put the speculum in, she asked DH "do you want to see her cervix?" So from that point on, DH was sitting at "that" end with the doc watching everything while holding my toe.

The others pretty much went the same way.

My husband has been in the room for all three of our DIUIs. The last one he actually got to stand at my feet and watch the whole thing (said it was like a discovery channel episode).

I would try and see how serious he is about the whole thing, and what his reasoning is. Most men want to be at the conception of their children.

Thanks ladies! I am going to talk with him tonight about it in more detail and find out exactly how he is feeling towards it. Bottom line, I want him there, and I will make my point heard

Tell him it's like delivery practice. If he can't handle something very small going in, how is he going to handle something large coming out?
