Calling her deranged is giving her too much credit. She is a complete and utter nut job who should have been sterilized instead of being helped to have 8 additional children the state/welfare/taxpayers will end up paying to raise.

Yeah she really gets to me. In a way though I wish they would just leave her alone and stop giving her all this publicity. It's what she wants.. they're "feeding a troll". lol

I don't know what the h*ll is wrong with her. I'm also questioning her doctors... #1 - who implants 6 embryos? and, more importantly, #2 - who implants 6 embryos in a woman who already has 6 kids and lives on public assistance?

She says that she's going to school to get a "good job", well, there's barely a job that's good enough to pay for daycare for 14 kids.

My heart just goes out to those poor children. I think they're going to have serious issues. Crying

I liked the part of the interview w/Ann Curry where she says 'Well, sometimes now I think I shouldn't have had so many...' Wow. Only sensible thing she's said so far...just sad that that realization came to her, oh, after her 7th IVF cycle? Good grief.

And they just said this morning that she has 3 of her kids on state aid - she gets $500 a month to feed them. What happened to her statement that she'd never accept welfare?

The correct term is actually to transfer, not implant (although I don't expect people who haven't done IVF to know that, just thought I'd take the chance to correct the incorrect terminology the media keeps using). The doctor is a HUGE quack - see this article. I've never heard of anything like this at any fertility clinic. Somehow she found the one psycho doctor to contribute to her psychosis, because he is probably the worst RE in existence and was happy to have someone willing to repeatedly undergo IVF.

FYI, for those unfamiliar with IVF, this is a huge anomaly by a really horrible doctor. It should have no bearing on how infertility treatments are done.?

She went on to explain that was a government assistance program not welfare. Gee I thought welfare was government assistance. So much for that theory crazy b.

She apparently doesn't consider it welfare because the 3 kids are disabled:

"In Nadya's view, the money that she gets from the food stamp program ... and the resources disabilities payments she gets for her three children are not welfare," he said. "They are part of programs designed to help people with need, and she does not see that as welfare."

Furtney declined to say what kinds of disabilities the three children have, the Times reported.

I was also extremely saddened to read that 3 of her kids have special needs. Providing enough love and care to 14 kids with no health issues would be impossible for her, but throw in the 3 that already have disabilities plus the complications the 8 new ones face? Makes me sick.

I understand the goal of typical treatments is to create one healthy baby, and I fully support those seeking to acheive this result. But I do think there should be some legal restrictions for doctors as to their ability to transfer a limitless number of embryos. I know this is not the norm and would not be an issue for responsible parents and ethical docs, but obviously it can and does happen based on this story. I mean, people looking to adopt face intense background checks and have to prove their ability to provide proper care for a child before being able to add to their families. I guess I don't see why this is so different.

I don't mean to offend those struggling with infertility, I know this is so not the norm. I guess I just feel bad that those innocent babies are the ones who will suffer in all this.

I have said it before and I will say it again....She has to be a compulsive liar!

The welfare/government assistance answer, the I grew up with a horrible childhood yet I still live there and my "horrible" parents help me raise my children, etc etc.

Next up they will determine she didn't WORK at the mental health hospital she was a patient! That woman is sick and unfortunately now there are 14 kids exposed to her.
