2nd Trimester

Help a first tri gal out!

Hi ladies, I've got a question for you.

I've been having AWFUL morning sickness-- and by "morning" I mean 24 hours a day, and by "sickness" I mean living on my bathroom floor.  All the books say most women feel better around 12 weeks.  Did that seem to be the case for you?  I'm curious how many women fall into this "most" catagory.  I need some hope here ladies!  I miss food!!

TIA

Re: Help a first tri gal out!

  • I started to feel "normal" again around 12-13 weeks. Hang in there!

  • I have no hope. I still puke very day and I'm 25 weeks.

And by puke I mean dry-heave and vomit stomach acid until I get a pounding headache and am red in the face. It's always in the mornings and at night.

I'm one of the unlucky ones who will be sick from conception to delivery. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

  • I felt better as soon as I could drink enough water.I think I was about 8 or 9 wks at that point. I just started basically chugging water and then I felt better.

    Are you keeping anything down?

  • Unfortunately I never threw up until week 14. I was nauseous before that until 12 weeks, felt better week 13, then felt sick until about week 16. Everyone is different so there's no way to know when you'll feel better. Good luck! It's awful I know.
  • I started to feel better around 10-12 weeks- everyone is different

  • I was never sick but never felt great... I only vomitted a few times. I started to feel fantastic around 14 weeks.
  • With my last pregnancy and with this one, I started feeling noticeably better at 14 weeks. Hang in there!
  • First...you should call your Dr in regards to your m/s, especially if it is so severe that you are unable to keep any food or water down. There is no reason to suffer through it. They may be concerned that you are getting dehydrated and will want you to come in.

Second...mine lasted until I was 17 weeks, so I'm just getting over it. I had severe m/s and had to go on Zofran just to get through some really tough spots.

  • It was totally gone for me at 16 weeks.
  • Please get on some meds...Zofran and Phenergan were my life savers.   I started with m/s at about 5.5 wks.  It lasted just about everyday till 11-12wks then it was only about 2-3x a wk till 16wks.

    Good luck!!!!

Oh yes, I've been in constant contact with my doctor.  I've been on Zofran for a couple of weeks and it helped tremendously until Sunday night, and now it's like I'm not even on anything!  They were concerned about dehydration for a while, but I started to get better right when they were ready to send me in.  I guess I do need to call again if the medicine doesn't help at all today.

  • Around 14-16 weeks with my first, and 12-13 weeks (right around now) with my second. Hang in there. Zofran and Phenergan will help! I hear ya. With my first I was wondering what the heck I did in life to deserve that torture, I would not wish that on my worst enemy!
  • I started feeling normalish around 13 weeks.  Felt human again around 15.
  • Talk to you Dr. and get the anti-nausea meds.

  • I stopped throwing up about 16 weeks but to this day I am still sick to my stomach ALOT!
  • My first tri was really rough, too. I literally stayed in bed for one 4 week stretch. I only moved to throw up in the trashcan. I didn't start feeling better until 14-15 weeks. Mine was partially due to having gestational lactose intolerance and not being diagnosed until 11-12 weeks.

Gestational lactose intolerance...I figured that was just in my head that I couldn't tolerate milk now that I'm pregnant!!  I can't even eat cereal anymore with regular milk, had to switch to soy.

  • It was later than 12 weeks though I didn't have the "typical", puke every morning kind of m/s. I had the constant hangover and nausea kind.

  • I started feeling better around 14 weeks and before that I was puking 1-3times a day. I still get some nausea maybe once a week but its noticably better. hang in there!
  • I was nauseated from jump but didn't start getting physically ill until about 11 weeks. I never got sick more than a few times/week, but it lasted until about 2 weeks ago. ...
