WDYT re: wedding planning and Save-The-Dates

The ceremony/reception location is about 45 minutes from where we live. When I send the Save-the-Dates, I'd like to include airport/hotel info for my OOT guests.

Should I provide hotels in the wedding site or in the city where we live?

  • mmm I might offer both...1 or 2 of each.  When we did ours, I recommended several hotels close to the event adn 2 that were further out, but a lot less expensive.

  • I would do wedding site.

This is bringing me back to my wedding planning days.  Ahhh life was so simple then.

  • Hey I got married in Baltimore and had my reception in Annapolis (about 45 minutes from eachother and we live about 1/2 hour from both) I included the hotel info in the wedding invite itself. We had a block of rooms in annapolis because we figured our family would be drinking and therefor wanted them on the roads as little as possible. hth!
  • I got married last year and included both close to the wedding site and close to 'home' hotels. Mostly for price options, but I also didn't want people drinking to much and not having some place close to stay. It turned out about 50/50.
  • Maybe wedding site or somewhere in-between. If people are travelling for the wedding I don't know about asking them to travel more, esp. if they're not familiar with the area.

I wanna get married again!!!!! It's so much fun! ?

  • DH's cousin had a lot of family coming from out of town so she worked with a hotel to reserve a block of rooms (until a certain date) for her guests - I think it was at a lower rate, too. We only had a couple people from OOT attend and we knew they'd all have a place to stay so we didn't bother but if we would've had a lot more knowing they'd have to stay in a hotel, I probably would've posted a hotel on our website, too.

  • I would get a block or two of rooms at a hotel (or several) near the wedding location.

  • We only put hotels that were close to the ceremony/reception location because we got married in downtown Kansas City and live 45 minutes away in Overland Park. Most people want to be near the wedding site, I think.

  • i would do either the wedding location or both.  most people will likely be drinking and therefore not want to be driving far after the wedding.  i'm sure there is some family though that might be interested in staying close to where you live.

  • I would probably do both....but they will probably stay closer to the reception spot.  We live about 30 minutes from our parents, and our wedding was by us.  We included hotel info close to our ceremony/reception site and our parents houses....because alot of OOT guests were family and stayed close to our parents houses.  Just give them both, they can decide.

  • Oh, but I have to add..... Check out the hotel first!! One of DH's pretentious (sp?) cousin's had a block of rooms at a hotel by her reception - at the beach, super expensive area. It was about an hour from us but we didn't want to drive home after. So SIL went before us and left immediately, it was filthy!!!!! There were a few other guests who mentioned they also left because of that. I would be sooo embarrased!!! So just check out the hotel beforehand...
  • Ditto the wedding website.  We printed "for travel info go to our website" or something like that.

We published where we had negoatied some rates, and what the rates were.

  • If you can't do both, then wedding site. ?You don't want drunk drivers driving 45 mins to get to the hotel ;)
  • Ceremony/reception site so if people are drinking it will be easier to get back to their hotel.  And chances are the recption will last a while and this way people are closer to their beds!
