I should have just told the nurse I saw at my first appt. that I had no idea how far along I might be so that they would have given me an u/s early on to date the pregnancy, but instead I guessed on my last missed period and the nurse went by that. I did make it clear that I wasn't really sure about it b/c I had a baby just a year before and had only had 3 irregular periods in that year. I then a standard mid-pregnancy u/s around 21-22 weeks, and at my next appt. after that I asked if they thought my due date was still 5/16. She said that I felt like 26 weeks, which means the 5/16 due date they were going by (based on last period) would have been correct. However, she didn't actually say "yes I am dating the pregnancy 26 weeks based on the ultrasound." Then today, I get a call from their office with several messages about an iron prescription I need, etc. and also to let me know that they will be going by the ultrasound due date which is 5/21 not 5/16. I'm so confused as to why they are changing it based on an ultrasound that was done half way through the pregnancy (I thought they had to be done early on to date a pregnancy) and also why they would even bother changing a due date when it's only a 5 day difference. Anyway, I don't put much stock in due dates so I'm not sweating it much... I just don't understand the need for the change.
Re: So confused! Next time I get PG I'll just say I have no idea how far along I am!
Yes, I know better than to worry about it after last time :-)
The only reason I can think of that they would be changing it is b/c the earlier info was from another practice, so maybe they wanted to do their own thing???
I bet that's why. The OBs I work with always want an ultrasound with us when a patient transfers to them.
