Picked up a copy of my Medical records

And I am all ready for my new doctor come wednesday.

I read through all my reports and there is no NOT A SINGLE note on my egg quality for either of my IVFs. How can you take a total of 15 eggs out of a persons body and not make a single note of how the hell they looked? All it says is transfered 2 on day 3 - 1  blast made it to freeze and nothing else.

No notes on fragmentation, no notes on what happened to the 7 that died - no notes on anything about my eggs. I just don't get it?

So I am really looking forward to meeting this new doctor. And hopefully he will be more open about everything going on inside me.  It would help a ton on which way to turn in the end.

A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

Re: Picked up a copy of my Medical records

  • I can't believe that.  Maybe they had it but didn't include it?  I hope you are comfortable with your 2nd opinion.  Good luck!

  • I too picked up my medical records and also was disatisfied with my Dr. who never sat us down to discuss anything with us and when I scanned over my records, not one thing in it about the quality of the eggs they retrieved (26 eggs). I also have switched Dr's.  Good for you for moving onto a new Dr. and I wish you luck!

  • That sucks, I would think that would all be in there. I hope the new Dr. is much better.
  • Is there any way to get more information on the quality?  I know at my office, I could call and talk to my embrologyst directly.  I hope you get some more information and the new doc puts you on the right track.

  • When ever I asked about quality the most I ever got was they look good - wonderful - okay and that was it. I even asked the embryologist about fragmentation and got the standard line of they look good and then 5 days later got a letter in the mail that they all died?!? At my last WTF I asked the RE about them and she said "we don't have the report" and kind of blew off the questions I had about quality and anything else on my eggs.

I was hoping the medical records would have more in there but of course not. I am not regretting my choice to change doctors at all. I need to no why they are not sticking and you would think egg quality would be the factor but I will never know if I stay with my current RE

  • The lack of information is soooo frustrating. You would think they would be more open with it when they are dealing with women who are in IF hell. I mean come on, they should have answers to the basic questions that most IVF cyclers want to know. I hope you get the answers you need and wish you best of luck at your appt.
