Toddlers: 24 Months+

S/O - so why ARE farts funny?

IHO Jessicada76's "does your child fart a lot" post - why exactly DO they find it funny?

I used to think that elementary school kids found it funny because it was an embarassing bodily function that they couldn't always control in front of peers.

But... I know darned good and well my toddlers are not embarassed of farting.

So.... what's so funny to them about farting?

It is just the sound?  They love "flerberts" (blowing raspberries into their bellies or necks)

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.

  • Well, I think with Paige "WE" made it funny.  When she first started doing it I said "Paige Elizabeth did you tooter?"  So now she knows it is something that draws attention to her - and we all know that Toddlers LOVE the attention - so I think she just finds it funny now.

  • IDK but it is. I am cracking up right now. Logan finds farts the most hysterical thing in the world. Take for instance this morning I was dressing him and as he lifted his butt for me to put a diaper on him & he farted. His response was uncontrolable laughter then this soon to be famous family quote "Mommy I farted in your mouth". I guess he meant face but until then I was composed.
  • hell I find them funny.

maybe it's the different noises they make, watching other peoples face when it happens.

i'm weird like that though i guess.
