well... Friday was the day. We decided it was time to put our dog down. He was deteriorating so quickly and just wasn't living anymore. I have to tell you... it was one of the hardest things we've ever done. As much as we thought he was a pain in the ass... he was our pain in the ass. After 12 years... he was our first baby and the first responsibility we had together. We both layed with him on the floor of the vet and held him the entire time. Both of us crying. It was awful. But we know he's not in any pain anymore so that helps. You think you're prepared for it, but your not. While we still have one dog at home, the house is incredibly quiet. The remaining dog is sad too. He's been staying quite close to us and has been cryng. I feel so bad for him.
I hope you have lots of time left with Coach. It's a terrible decision to have to make and I don't wish it upon anyone.
Just wanted to keep you updated. Hope all is well on your end. ((hugs))
Re: ***Jodie*** :(
(((HUGS)))
I'm so so SO sorry!
I think we will be bringing Coach to the vet sooner than later --- but just for a check up. More days than not now, he puts zero pressure on that paw. Although it doesn't appear to be swollen (thank God), he just doesn't seem himself. He spends quite a bit of time sleeping. Although that could be us (me) projecting and it could be just because well, it's winter and we are inside.
Put him out in the snow and you would NEVER know he was a hurt puppy! He is nuts --- kicking the snow up, eating it, etc. And my father came over last night (Coach ADORES him) and he went mental when my dad came in. Wouldn't even know there was a thing wrong with him.
I am SOOOO not looking forward to the day but I, ultimately, want to do whatever is best for him! I just hope I know what that is when the time comes!
Again, I am so so so sorry and thank you for the update!
