Wouldn't that be nice? To just walk in and ask the doc to please start me on bedrest because I ache, my feet are swollen and I can barely walk. I just found out my maternity leave is only 5 paid weeks for "standard births" but if I'm on bedrest before birth I'd get a lot more paid leave. Grrr...
Re: How do I get on bedrest?
Having been on bedrest once already this PG I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
*edited to add:
Nor would I ever request it. Restricted hours? Yes. Bedrest? HELL NO.

You should ask...I have known people who have just asked and their doctors are cool with it and just wrote them a note, no problem. Give the whole song and dance about work is hard on your body, stresses you out and is too uncomfortable. Its worth a shot!
Exactly. Bed rest doesn't mean you just don't have to go into work anymore. You are actually supposed to be resting. As in not moving. As in bored out of your everloving mind while all of your household stuff goes by the wayside.

Ditto - My Dr actually asked if I wanted taken off work last week.
I would not wish bed rest on anyone. Yeah, I don't have to go to work, but I can't do anything else either. It sucks.
Be happy your pregnancy is going the way it should be.
Ditto. I would LOVE to get up, get in my car, and go to Target. Or the mall. ANYWHERE but here. Not fun.
Ditto.
I saw your reply that you didn't mean it literally, but from someone who has been on bedrest for 3 months and has only left the house to go to doctors appts since mid-November, this post seems pretty crappy and insensitive.
I wouldn't ask for bedrest, but I'd let the doctor know how uncomfortable you are -- I think alot of doctors are okay with writing you out early because work just becomes too much.
