Cincinnati Babies

I need some ideas

Justin is making a real mess of himself at daycare when he eats.  He's in a class with kids that are between 18-24 months old.  Each kid has an oversize T-shirt that they wear over their clothes when they eat their lunch and snacks and typically, that does the job as far as helping to keep their food off their clothes.

Well, Justin is getting his food EVERYWHERE.  He wipes his hands on his pants and he even somehow manages to get his shirts all yucky despite being covered with the large shirt.  The teacher asked me if I wanted them to just strip him down before he eats, or if I want to bring in other clothes for him to wear......I don't know what the best alternative is.  Initially, I thought that other clothes would be better, but that's a lot of work for the daycare ladies......but then again, so is just stripping him down!

Anyone have any good ideas?  Hopefully this phase will not last long and he will start hitting his mouth better and not use his pants for a napkin.

Re: I need some ideas

  • I LOL reading this post because Piper is the exact opposite. She hates to even eat with her hands and likes to use a fork for things like chicken nuggets. If she gets ketchup or pizza sauce or something on her hand she holds it out going "eww eww eww" until you wipe it off. The teachers at her new daycare even commented on it. It's so funny at their age how you can totally see their different personalities coming out!

Anyway, I'd probably just ask the teachers what they'd prefer since they're the ones having to do it. Although personally I'd probably prefer just stripping him down versus having to send extra clothes every day (twice the laundry!). I bet this is just a phase and he won't have to eat naked as a 5 year old :-)

  • Piper is such a girly-girl    :)

I was just like her as a child.  Justin just LOVES to be a mess.  Yesterday he put bananas in his hair, oh glory be.

  • Could you send a pair of sweatpants or something that they could easily slip on over top of his pants, similar to the way they do with the oversized t-shirt?

  • or what about a kids apron?
  • I hate to break it to you, but he's a BOY, so he will probably always use his pants as a napkin!
