2nd Trimester

m/s starting in 2nd tri?

I have been really lucky to have avoided m/s so far, until today.  I lost it while walking into work today!  Feel much better now, but it really surprised me.

I know the books say in rare cases it can start up in 2nd tri, just curious if anyone else here has had this happen?

Re: m/s starting in 2nd tri?

  • I was relatively fine until now as well. I wouldn't say I'm bad now, but this whole weekend I've felt like crap and I still don't feel well this morning...I'm hoping it doesn't get much worse!

  • Mine wasn't too bad in 1st tri but it definitely got worse in the 2nd tri.

  • It did not happen to me (I got M/S in first tri and was over it by week 10), but, I have a friend who had a baby last year, and she was completely fine throughout her first trimester and a little beyond.  Right around week 15 or 16, I think, she got sick with all-day M/S, and it continued for 6 or 8 weeks.  She got so sick that her OB had to put her on that medication that helps you keep food down?  I'm not sure what it is called... I was lucky and didn't have M/S that badly!!

My cousin's wife is pregnant, she is a couple weeks ahead of me, and she is still sick.  Yes, still!!!  Her M/S started in the first tri like "usual", but it just... never stopped!

Anyway, not trying to make you feel worse - just pointing out that it is totally normal, and I know a couple examples IRL!

  • I had discomfort after I ate in my 1st Tri, which led to vomiting sometimes.

But in my 2nd Tri, it seems I could go for months without feeling ill, and then all of a sudden it hits me like a freight train.  It hits hard and with no sympathy.

Everyone is different.  My friend hasn't had any m/s in 2nd Tri or 1st, and I  sit here every now and again miserable.

  • thanks for the replies, at least I'm not a freak.  but I guess i should still count myself lucky, sounds like it could be much worse.  I'm hoping not!
  • I did great during my 1st Tri.  NOW I feel like I have constant car sickness all day every day.  Not fun!!!
