When the phone rings

Do you answer it if you're busy?  If you have caller id, do you ever avoid picking up a call from someone you know?
Oy with the poodles already!

Re: When the phone rings

  • I always wait to see what the caller ID says. Usually I ignore the phone unless it is DH or my parents.

  • We only use our cell phones, so i look and see who it is first, then decide if I want to answer.

  • My Aunt calls all the time. I love her to death, but sometimes think about not answering. I always do though b/c I feel too guilty not answering.

  • I rarely answer my phone unless it's dh or dd.  Busy or not.  And I never answer it if the number is not programed in with a name (we only have cell phones too).  They can leave a msg and if I feel like it, I'll call them back when I have absolutely nothing else to do.  I hate being on the phone.
  • I hate answering the phone.  I try not to.  I do scan my calls.
  • I lurve to talk on the phone. I always answer.
  • I let it ring more often than I answer.  I figure if it's that important they will either call my other line or leave a message for me to call back.  I'm not a big fan of being on the phone forever discussing nothing.
  • My biggest pet peeve is when people answer their phone and then say, "I'm busy/in a meeting/etc. I can't talk right now." Then why did you answer the phone! I could have just left you a message and you could have called me back when you were available.?

I have this issue alot a work. I'm a claims adjuster and I'm on the phone calling customers for about 75% of my day. ?Because of this I avoid my cell phone at all cost. I will rarely answer it when it rings. I would rather check my voicemail and call the person back.?

Oh yeah, and then they act pissy with you like it's your fault.  You should have known they were too busy to talk on the phone. So they had to answer, just to let you know your a piece of crap!

  • no, I don't answer it if I'm busy. My definition of busy also includes being too lazy to get off the couch to get to the phone.

I screen my calls all the time with callerID. Certain people I won't pick up during working hours because I don't want them to think I am ever available to talk during those times. Otherwise they'll call all the time.
