Ugh, I am having the hardest time picking out nursery things. I finally picked out a crib, but have not found anything in regards to bedding and I can't decide on a color for the room (which I am sure would help with the bedding). I have looked around alot and just can't seem to find anything that I like. I am not a pink type of girl either. At first I wasn't even going to paint the room since I just did it less than two years ago, but the room is a pale blue and just doesn't look right for a girl. Am I just thinking too much about this? Has anyone else hit a mental block when it comes to the nursery? Any suggestions?
Re: Am I the only one?
I would have done bedding with some green and a ?nature theme. Then paint the walls a pale yellow.
I think that we were done to the wire too. We drove to BRU for bedding and then brought it right to Lowes for ?coordinating paint.?
We have natural wood furniture and sky blue walls. The bedding has bears playing sports. ??
I hit that block big time too! What helped me was when we finally realized that since we would never use most of a bedding set, we would just get sheets and maybe later on a comforter.
Then I found these and fell in love and everything fell into place (now I just need to order them).
lamp, and hanging thingy. The funny thing is that I HATE the bedding
Good luck!
Our Twin Baby + a Big Girl Blog
And with the delivery trifecra of one twin vaginal, one c-section with general anesthesia for twin B, Spencer and Sidney joined us at 35 weeks exactly on June 18.
Honestly, haven't even thought of it yet. But I'm only 14w... maybe after I know the baby's sex I'll think more about it. But since we're on a tight budget, I'm not going to go TOO crazy. We want to use the removable wall decals (rent an apt.) to decorate the room and we're going to ask our landlady if we can paint a pale pastel color (easy to paint over). We'll have white furniture, since my SIL is giving us her white crib, and we want to buy a cute area rug to cover up the industrial beige carpet.
I think I'll be OK. I'm a graphic artist and I have a few ideas already, depending on the baby's sex.

For my first, I was stuck as anything when it came to the nursery. This time, a set on clearance just happened to catch my eye, and now I have tons of ideas. Try looking when you're not "planning" to look and maybe something will leap out at you!
FWIW - I read someone's idea about doing a non-literal Wizard of Oz theme which would totally work with blue walls. (Think blue gingham bedding and a pale yellow rug - not pictures of Dorothy and Toto.) I've also seen blue toile bedding on Overstock that's cute. (Obviously, I like country looks for a girl's room!)

Personally, the room that will be the nursery is already a very light mauve color (very neutral) so if it's a girl it will probably stay like that. Or I was thinking lavender. If it's a boy we will def. repaint it... probably blue or yellow. Our bedroom is a teal blue and it's great but I don't know if I want another blue room, that's why yellow might work for a boy.
I really can't do anything until we know what it is, but we have a tight budget so I'll go with the furniture and bedding that's pretty but also affordable. Having less money really limits your options but it makes for easier decision! Other than the wall color, I'm going to go with more gender-neutral bedding b/c we want to have a second baby and I don't want to buy everything over again. I wonder if the bedding will fade too much though. Hmmm....
I am in a shame spiral over the nursery. It wakes me up at night! We are going (for the 3rd time) to PBK today to look at another option (probably my 12th idea) in person to see how I feel about it.
I also feel pretty confident about the furniture I want but cannot decide on a color scheme. Of course, I don't even find out for sure what I'm having until Tuesday but I would like to be able to hit the ground running once I know.
As others have mentioned pale blue seems like it could work fine for a girl if you want to avoid repainting. I was thinking a beach theme could work great, or even teddy bears or something and just make it more frilly with ribbons, lace etc... if you'd like. Or I was thinking you could paint some shade of green lower on wall (creating grass/sky areas) and use a nature or outdoors theme. I love the toille and Oz ideas someone else mentioned. Though don't think DH would be a fan of either. Like someone else mentioned the nursery stuff is really more for us than our little ones.
My intended nursery room is a medium green shade with white trim and figure whether we have a girl or boy I can easily do something that works. I was thinking jungle, garden or something like that. DH sounds like he maybe wants to paint, so we'll see....a friend has already offered to help with painting if we'd like.
