My best friend is having a little boy and next month is her baby shower. Her mom has put me in charge of games and I wanted to see if anyone here had any good suggestions? It's an afternoon shower at her mom's house with about 25 people or so. I'm hoping to find more creative games to keep everyone entertained. Thanks in advance for the help!
Re: Games at a shower
Well, I just had my SIL's shower and we played a few games that went over well with the guests. We played Baby White. Which is where you have white substances like baby powder, sugar, salt, baking powder, etc in little baby bottles and the guests aren't allowed to taste or smell them and try to guess what they are.
We also had the Papa, momma, baby game, which I played little clips of songs that had those words in the title of the song and they had to guess the song. Example: Papa don't preach, Ice Ice Baby, etc.
And I also played White Elephant, where everyone gets called up to pick a gift and then when all the gifts are gone, you continue to call everyone's name, but they then take gifts from the other guests. It's a lot of fun with a younger crowd, I'm not sure older people would like it though.
Hope it helps.

couple easy ones...put a bunch of baby items on a tray (diaper, bottle, rattle, formula, toy, bib, etc) and cover it up - show it to each table (or however you want to do it) for exactly one minute, telling them they need to memorize everything on it - once everyone sees it, cover the tray back up and then have everyone write down as much as they remember from the tray. Person who remembers the most wins a prize.
baby bingo - hand out blank bingo sheets (other then the free spot) and have people fill in what they think the mama will get as gifts - blanket, toy, car shade, etc - as she opens gifts, if they wrote it down they cross it off and whomever gets bingo first wins (we've played it where anyone can keep getting a bingo until all the gifts are open, so sometimes there are 5-10 winners).
the purse game (if it's women only) - make a list of 15-120 things women might have in their purses (can be normal, like a pen, and a little more obsucure like a rubber band or paper clip). Hand out the list and whomever has the most items from the list in their purse wins.
another easy door-prize game is having each woman weigh her purse as she comes in on a regular bathroom scale - whomever has the heaviest purse wins a door prize.
i had my shower yesterday...it was a small intimate gathering of close friends and family. everyone brought a photo of themselves as a baby and we tried to guess who was who. it was a lot of fun!
the best shower game i played though was trying to match celeb parents with the names of their children. this was a fun group effort. and it gave everyone something to talk about. it was played by trying to match them on print-outs.
If you scroll down in my Blog, I talk about the baby shower I just threw and the games we played. ?We did three:
?
My favorite was "what will baby look like". ?The girls got into groups of three and I gave each 3 magazines (2 baby and one entertainment weekly), scissors, glue sticks and a piece or cardstock. ?They had 15-20 minutes to make a collage representing what they thought the baby would look like. ?They then presented it to the mom and she picked the winning group. ? It is great, because she will have cute, funny collages to take home.
The second was "don't say baby". ?Each guest was given a pacifier necklace as they arrived and told that if they hear someone say "baby" they can call them out and take the necklace from them. ?The guest with the most necklaces at the end wins. ?
The last game was "guess mommy's tummy size". ?Throughout the party guests were free to take a roll of ribbon and measure out how big they think the mom's tummy is. ?They then wrote their name on the ribbon and put it in a bowl. ?After all the gifts were open, we put each ribbon around the mom's tummy to see who had the closest guess.?

I have one that was a hit. You'll need diapers, spoons, blindfolds pen, paper condiments and door prizes.
take diapers fill them with things like candy, sweat and sour, baby food, anything ediable you want. Keep a master lists you can number the diapers and write what is in each diaper.
have guest put blindfolds on. pass around diapers with spoons explain they can smell and taste all diapers and the person(s) with the correct guesses wins prize.
A fun twist to the tray memory game is to have a guest be the one to show the tray to the group, and then leave the room. Ask the guests to then write down everything the "shower" was wearing. This is a hoot because everyone was concentrating on the tray, not the person. I love that one!
~ On cute baby paper, make a list of baby related words that are scrambled. Each guest gets a list and has to unscramble the words. The person with the most wins
~ Fill a bottle full of Jelly beans (or something) and pass around. They have to guess how many they think are inside and write it down/pass it in. The person closest wins.
~ Take like 5 diapers and melt chocolate candy inside. (Like a recess, snickers, etc. (So it looks like poop) and guest have to guess which candy is in each diaper! Gross but alwasy a good laugh...
My mom is planning a game for my co-ed shower where she splits some of the guests together into 4 groups. 2 girls for each 1 guy. Each group has a designated color and baby items that match that color. The 2 girls have to dress the guy up with their colored baby items and whoever gets done first wins a prize. Items include a bottle, bib, bonnet, "cloth" diaper, teddy bear, etc. I think this will be a hit because the teams will be our younger friends who have a very open sense of humor. I think a lot of the hilariousness will be dependent on how much of a spectacle they make out of it, and I doubt I'll be let down. lol.
She's also doing the baby belly size guess with a ribbon, candy bars in a diaper guessing game, and maybe something incorporated into the gift opening.
I went to one that did baby bingo... take things from the registry or common items (bottles, pacifiers, bibs, etc) and put it on a bingo type card. as mom to be opens gifts, guests cross/ color in their squares. from there it's like regular bingo.and you keep playing for as many prizes you want...
good to keep people occupied during gift opening.
