DD has been interested in the potty for a while now. She has been pooping in there for a month or more. (We run to it when we see her grunting.) For the past week or two, she's peeing in the potty 5 or more times a day and staying dry between many of the potty times. YAY
My questions:
What do you do when you're running errands? I am thinking of buying a folding potty topper.
DD's been a little off today. Twice she would not pee on the potty and peed right after we got her off (but before the diaper was back on!) and twice she's peed as I was taking her clothes off. What do you do to prevent that?
Re: For those who have/begun potty training
Ha! Stealth.
DD's eye lids turn all red and she gets really still. Hilarious.
It's totally her being ready, not us pushing...but now that I know she's able to I want to help her proceed, ya know?
There is a padded folded potty topper which looks useful. I have the hard plastic folded one. We HATE it. Gah. I just take her potty insert ring from home... It's kind of a pain, but worked for quite a while.
But honestly, she hasn't been loving that one while out either lately. Sigh. HOWEVER, I have a new trick. I make sure the seat is clean and dry. *I* sit down with my pants still on, and I put my hands under her knees and hold her up with my forearms. She's in a seated position between my knees. And she's touching nothing cold... just me. And she goes. DH hasn't tried this with her in a public bathroom yet, but I've been successful.
As far as her peeing on you while you are taking her clothes off... this is probably actually a *good* sign. Her instincts to not eliminate in her pants/diaper are kicking in once again. Just keep talking to her. When you're changing her, tell her if she needs to pee she just needs to let you know. (I'm guessing she's cueing you clearly by now.)
Sounds like things are going great. Don't let a slightly 'off' day like today discourage you. GL
Thanks. I will probably have many more questions for you!

We used to be able to hold dd over a public toilet, but then she stopped liking that. I went to BRU and got her a seat called a "Potette Plus". It's a little big, but it is contoured and the handles fold in, so not too bad. It fits in my Skip*Hop diaper bag with diapers and a few other things, so it small enough.
I try to use the bathrooms in Baby Gap when I'm at the mall. They have a toilet and changing table (and frequently a chair to nurse in) all in the same room, so it's super convenient. I hate when I take dd at Target or other places, and undress her on the changing table, carry her naked butt to the bathroom, set everything up (with people staring at me), then leave the stall with her naked bottom and frequently need to wait for the changing table to get her diaper back on. It's a hassle. I love Baby Gap
