Good news?

So I got my test results back from the doctor yesterday.  She called to say everything was good and to continue with my normally scheduled appointments (nurse visit Fri the 13th and Dr visit the 20th).  So huge relief until I started probing with more questions.

I asked her what my levels were and she said 88,000 which is a "good high number" but that was Tuesday's number and the point was to compare it against Thursday's and look for a doubling.  So only then she starts looking for Thursday and tells me everythng is fine its 94,000 but to me its good that its rising but thats a far cry from doubled.  But the nurse just blew me off told me everything was fine and even asked why was I concerned had I had spotting or something - um yeah, thats why I went in for the tests!

I've done some research and nothing is making me feel much better.  Apparently my levels are within range for 7-8 weeks (I was 8 weeks on Fri based on my last period) but in the bottom third of the range.  Comparing HcG levels is good for the first 6-7 weeks but after that an US is best which I didn't have scheduled to the 20th.  I didn't have sex or an internal which can induce spotting and it seems a little late for implantation bleeding but I feel a lot better that others here seem to have spotted around 7 weeks.  The spotting stopped and was pretty minimal but it was bright red.  My tests were a little less then 48 hours apart so that makes me feel slightly better.

Argh, I just want to *know* everything is okay.  I hate dealing with doctors who won't actually talked to you.  I moved my appt up to the 17th but not really knowing for another week and a half seems like a long time.

Re: Good news?

  • that is really frustrating. Is there anyway you can talk to your dr directly with your questions? maybe they can give you clearer answers

  • i'm so sorry. there is nothing worse than going through a bunch of stuff and not feeling like you have a real answer. i will say that my doctor's/nurses' nonchalant attitude about my bleeding (with Truittt) caused me to change doctors. while it happens to so many people and more times than not is just a normal part of pregnancy, it's certainly not something to blow off and i think it's just wrong for the nurse to question your concerns.

in the end, i had bleeding episodes twice and everything was fine :) in contrast, i had no symptoms and no bleeding when i had my m/c. so, if they are optimistic for you, i think you have no reason to not feel the same! xoxoxox

  • I almost changed doctors also until my doctor called me back the same day and had me come in immediately - she even cleared a spot for me [it was her lunch break] - i totally understand not feeling like you are being heard or that the on-call doc or nurse is just blowing you off.  Could you call another doctor, particularly one that has experience with tough pregnancies or delicate ones and go see him/her?  you might really get some answers then!

    good luck!

  • I am glad that you got some good news.  Keep thinking positively and take care.
