Does anyone have an incompetent cervix?

in Pregnant after a Loss

I may have one and just wanted to see if anyone can relate. ?I won't know for sure for a while if I have one or not, but I would love to hear your stories. ?The dr's think that my late loss last March was caused by IC.

    My doctors aren't sure what made me go early.  However, they think it may have been placental abruption.  Since they are not completely sure, they are doing u/s every 2 weeks to monitor my cervix length (started at 12 weeks).  I wish you luck :)

    They haven't actually called it that, but my cervix started shortening around 21/22 weeks.  I've been on bed rest since 24 weeks.  They aren't sure if it caused my previous loss or not because when my water broke my cervix was still closed.  Keep me posted!

    I do.  Lost my 1st daughter at 15w after my water broke.  Lost my 2nd daugther at 17w after finding out I was 100% effaced and partially dilated.  Pathology and history indicated IC.  I have a transabdominal cerclage in now, see a Peri and go in every 2w for cervical measurements.  I start progesterone shots in about 2w as well to prevent preterm labor.  I'm sitting right in the danger zone of 15 to 24w.

    Cindy,  they never said for sure if I had IC or just an infection that made me lose my Gabby.  One of the Dr in the group seemed to believe that it could have been the IC but the other thought it was an infection.  I didn't want to risk losing another child.  I went to Chicago, IL to Dr. Haney (a wonderful man and Dr.) He did a trans abdominal cerclage on me at 11 wks pregnant and so far so good.  I do have more sono than most.  Although not every two weeks.  As with PP I am getting progesterone (P17) injections every week for preterm labor.There is a group called Abbyloopers who are all women who have IC, I'm sure they could help you out with some of your questions.  There is also Dr. Davis who is really respected by this group and he is in NJ.  This is the web address for abbyloopers  www.abbyloopers.org Good luck.  If you have any questions and I can help just email me at lmyanda21@yahoo.com.
